Important TACKLE FOOTBALL Information

 

Unless informed otherwise, all practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 530 PM to 730 PM.  Saturdays from 830 AM to 1030 AM.  This year practices will be at King Philip Middle School in West Hartford.  Field is located to the left of the driveway off of Mohawk Drive.

 

SCHEDULE:

TUESDAY August 20th (5:30 PM - 730 PM)         PONIES ONLY

WEDNESDAY August 21st (5:30 PM - 730 PM)   MITES AND PEE WEE ONLY

SATURDAY August 24th (8:30 AM - 1030 AM)   MITES, PEE WEE, PONY

 

For those players who do not have equipment yet please talk with your coaches and they will set a time for you to pick up equipment.  NOTE:  We will be doing equipment pickup only a few more times as we are limited in how much we can go in and out of our storage facility.

 

Tackle football regular season games start Sunday, September 1st (location and times TBD).  

 

This Years Teams:

  • Cowboys - Players entering 3-4 Grade - Coach Elton Thomas
  • Patriots - Players entering 5-6 Grade - Coach Ryan Kennedy
  • Firebirds - Players entering 7-8 Grade - Coach Bruce Bourgoin

Head Coaches will contact team players as we move forward. 

 

Equipment:

All players will need to purchase, cleats, mouth guard, and a girdle with integrated pads. Mouth guards are required for all practices. Helmets, shoulder pads, pants, belts, knee pads and jerseys are provided by WHYFL. 

Always send you player to practice with a water bottle.

 

What should players wear?

We will acclimate to wearing full equipment as follows:

  • Players 1st and 2nd practices - helmets, shorts, T-shirt and cleats 
  • Players 3-5 practices - helmets, shoulder pads, shorts, T-shirt and cleats  
  • After 5 practices players will wear full equipment to practice unless specifically told otherwise.
  • Full Equipment = helmet, shoulder pads, girdle integrated pads, pants with knee pads, belt, jersey,cleats and mouth guard.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE:  PER USA HEADSUP FOOTBALL GUIDELINES ALL PLAYERS THAT CANNOT MAKE THE CONDITIONING PRACTICES WILL HAVE TO MAKE THE PRACTICES UP PRIOR TO WEARING FULL EQUIPMENT.  THIS IS FOR SAFETY.

 

The current schedule will only give us 9 team practices with full pads. Please try to make all practices.  All NYFL teams; Simsbury, Southington, Granby, and Farmington are Starting team practices August 6, and conditioning prior.
